TWO THIRDS OF CANADIANS TURNED TO CBC/RADIO-CANADA FOR COVERAGE OF THE TORONTO 2015 PAN AM GAMES

An average of close to 2.2 Million Canadians tuned into the Closing Ceremony on
CBC-TV and ICI Radio-Canada Télé
 
The TORONTO 2015 Pan Am Games closed on an exuberant note on Sunday night with an array of highly anticipated musical and artistic guests, fireworks and a parade of athletes showcased in the Closing Ceremony, which drew an average audience of almost 2.2 million Canadians to CBC-TV and ICI Radio-Canada Télé as a nation celebrated one last time.
 
Overall, more than 22 million Canadians - or 63 per cent of the population - watched at least some part of CBC/Radio-Canada’s Pan Am Games coverage from July 10 - 26, 2015. CBC, Canada’s Olympic network, is the destination for amateur sport, dedicated to recognizing high-performing athletes and bringing their unique stories to Canadians.
 
Additional highlights from the duration of the Pan Am Games:
 
  • - Pan Am Prime with host Scott Russell on CBC-TV was at an all-time high on Thursday, July 23 at 1.3 million and Saturday July 25 with 1.2 million Canadians tuning in
     
  • - An average audience of 2.162 million Canadians tuned into the Closing Ceremony on CBC-TV and ICI Radio-Canada Télé from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. ET
     
  • - On the digital side, CBC/Radio-Canada’s digital offerings generated more than 30 million total page views across desktop, mobile, and app
     
  • - More than 3.2 million video views were generated through desktop, mobile sites and the app on CBC/Radio-Canada digital offerings
     
  • - Day 9 (Sunday, July 19, 2015) was the busiest day for cbc.ca/panam with nearly 2.2 million page views, as Men’s Baseball was streamed, with Canada facing off against the United States

CBC/Radio-Canada is the official broadcaster of the TORONTO 2015 Pan Am/Parapan Am Games in Canada, providing Canadians with more hours of coverage than before - including unprecedented coverage of the Parapan Am Games - through an extensive multi-platform approach.
 
In a Canadian television first, the Parapan Am Games will be seen nationally from August 7-15, 2015. Daily TV and live streaming coverage will include the Opening and Closing Ceremonies. Extensive streaming coverage of the TORONTO 2015 Parapan Am Games will be available at cbc.ca/parapanam and via the CBC Sports App.
