RECORD BREAKING RESULTS FOR CBC RADIO ONE WITH STRONG NUMBERS IN LOCAL MARKETS

The spring Numeris (formerly BBM) diary results indicate that CBC Radio One has captured record audiences across the country, with increased listenership in key demographics. Data from March 6 to April 29, 2015 indicates that CBC Radio One ranked #1 overall in seven markets, including: Halifax, Kamloops, Kelowna, Ottawa (Anglo), Prince George, Victoria and Winnipeg. This is in addition to strong numbers for PPM markets including Toronto, Vancouver, and Edmonton, released May 7th.

“CBC Radio One continues to deepen its connection with Canadians, and shows no signs of letting up,” said Heather Conway, Executive Vice President, English Services, CBC. “We’re thrilled that we continue to be the station of choice in many markets across the country.”

Spring CBC Radio One Highlights Include:

CBC Radio One Winnipeg ranked #1 for the first time ever, advancing on CJOB’s long-held market share
CBC Radio One was ranked #1 in 4 British Columbia markets - another first
CBC Radio One remains the #1 station in Ottawa (Anglo), in all local time blocks
CBC Radio One Regina took the #1 position for its morning show, The Morning Edition, and posted notable increases in share and ranking overall<
13 out of the 14 local morning shows measured in Spring 2015 were in the top two
On Saturday mornings, CBC Radio One stations ranked in the top 3 in 14 out of 14 markets, with #1 rankings in Halifax, Saint John, Moncton, Ottawa (Anglo), Winnipeg, Regina, Saskatoon, Victoria, Kelowna, Prince George
On Sunday mornings, CBC Radio One stations ranked in the top 2 in 14 out of 14 markets, with #1 rankings in St. John’s, Halifax, Saint John, Moncton, Ottawa (Anglo), Winnipeg, Regina, Saskatoon, Victoria, Kelowna and Prince George

UNRESERVED, currently airing in Manitoba, Saskatchewan and the North, moved up to #3 in Regina with a record-high for its timeslot. Launching as part of CBC Radio One’s fall schedule, UNRESERVED is an insightful and sometimes irreverent look at indigenous Canada with host Rsanna Deerchild.
