CBC THANKS ARLENE DICKINSON FOR EIGHT SUCCESSFUL SEASONS OF DRAGONS' DEN

CBC announced today that after eight seasons on DRAGONS’ DEN, Arlene Dickinson has decided to leave the hit show to pursue other business endeavours.

“After eight incredible seasons, listening to thousands (!) of pitches, and building a portfolio of successful investments, I’ve decided it’s time to give   up my chair on DRAGONS’ DEN,” said Arlene Dickinson. “The impossible dream that starts in someone’s basement can grow into a business that feeds families,   drives growth and innovation, and makes our country a better place. We’ve seen it time and again on DRAGONS’ DEN.”

“I know all about dreams,” Dickinson continued. “The opportunity to be a Dragon has made some of mine come true. But I still have some big dreams, ones I   want and need to chase.”

“Arlene has made a significant impact on the success of DRAGONS’ DEN, and has contributed greatly to the development and growth of Canadian entrepreneurs,”   said Jennifer Dettman, executive director, Unscripted Content, CBC. “It’s a tremendous time commitment to be a Dragon, and we feel lucky to have had Arlene   for as long as we did. We wish her all the best.”

Big things are in store for the anticipated 10th season of DRAGONS’ DEN, which will feature top entrepreneurs, innovative business pitches, and new   Dragons. Auditions are being held across the country until Saturday, March 28th, 2015. Further   details about the 10th season of DRAGONS’ DEN will be announced in the coming weeks.

DRAGONS’ DEN continues to be the top-rated Canadian unscripted program this season, with an average audience of about 1 million Canadians each week.

The current season of DRAGONS’ DEN airs Wednesdays at 8 p.m. (8:30 NT) on CBC Television.
