CBC SPORTS AND MACKENZIE INVESTMENTS JOIN FORCES TO PRESENT 2014-15 CHAMPIONSHIP ALPINE SKIING

Mackenzie Investments is the presenting sponsor of the 2014-15 season of Championship Alpine Skiing on CBC. The partnership launched with the Lake Louise Alpine World Cup on CBC on November 29th, offering Canadians the first chance to follow celebrated athletes, including former and prospective Olympians, throughout their journeys during the ski season.

“We are very excited about the partnership with Mackenzie Investments. Given their interest in elevating amateur athletics in Canada, this collaboration is a perfect fit for CBC Sports,” said Jim Kozak, senior director, marketing CBC/Radio-Canada revenue group.

“CBC is the home of Olympic and amateur sport in Canada. Our mission is to tell the stories of Canada’s best and brightest athletes as they compete against the world,” said Jeffrey Orridge, executive director of sports properties and general manager, Olympics, CBC.

As part of their effort to support Canadian athletes, Mackenzie Investments has announced a four-year sponsorship of Snow Sports Canada, touching seven premier national snow sport organizations. They also have a history of supporting grassroots alpine skiing in its home province through a new five-year partnership with Alpine Ontario, and they are extending this by sponsoring Alpine Skiing on CBC.

“At Mackenzie Investments, we believe in powering performance and admire the tenacity, dedication and courage of our Canadian snow sport athletes,” said Jeff Carney, president and chief executive officer of Mackenzie Investments. “We look forward to supporting and cheering on our athletes, along with the rest of Canada, as their victories are celebrated live on the CBC.”

As part of the partnership, Mackenzie Investment is receiving brand integration throughout the broadcast and into cbcsports.ca. Mackenzie will be sponsoring the Sports Update Desk within Alpine Skiing coverage and will receive a performance-focused commercial produced by CBC. To kick off the season CBC personality Doug Dirks interviewed Jeff Carney, president and CEO of Mackenzie Investments, about the importance of nurturing amateur athletics in Canada.
