Doing It! starring Naomi Snieckus and Matt Baram premieres on Wednesday, Sept. 24 followed by Womanish on Oct. 22
CBC’s online comedy channel, Punchline, is rolling out two new original series of digital shorts in the coming weeks. Doing It! with Brian & Darla will premiere on Wednesday, Sept. 24th followed one month later by Womanish on October 22nd. Both series will be released in full on their respective premiere dates.
Doing it! With Brian & Darla is a five-episode series that parodies the online ‘life hack’ phenomenon. Canadian Comedy Award winners Naomi Snieckus (Mr. D) and Matt Baram (Seed) play Darla and Brian Tibster, a married couple who offer their own unique brand of do-it-yourself instruction for making life easier in and around the home. Although they mean well, the Tibsters’ not-so-practical projects invariably make their lives more complicated than they should be.
Womanish is a quirky, original series about two young women stuck between girlhood and womanhood, co-starring the award-winning Canadian sketch comedy duo of Gwynne Phillips and Briana Templeton. In this series of shorts, roommates Holly (Phillips) and Carmen (Templeton) attempt to break into a rapidly flourishing Toronto arts scene while simultaneously navigating their social and professional lives. Phillips and Templeton are also known for their sketch comedy work as The Templeton Philharmonic, having been named Best Comedy Duo by the L.A. Comedy Festival and a ‘Producer’s Pick’ at Toronto Sketchfest.
Both of these series reflect Punchline’s mission to work with established Canadian comedians as well as up-and-coming comedy creators and provide them a platform to showcase their original content in a new way.
