A quarter of the Ontario population tuned in to CBC’s election night coverage from
8:30 p.m. - midnight ET on CBC Television and CBC News Network reaching nearly
3.5 million Ontarians
In an event-filled evening where Ontario saw the Liberals return to power with a majority government, Ontarians chose CBC for up-to-the-minute results and analysis on June 12. Nearly 3.5 million Ontarians tuned in to CBC Television and CBC News Network for Ontario election coverage with CBC News Toronto’s Anne-Marie Mediwake, Dwight Drummond, Robert Fisher, Nil Köksal, Mike Wise and Power & Politics host, Evan Solomon; along with a team of CBC reporters right across the Province.

CBC’s digital on-line coverage on cbc.ca/ontariovotes generated over 16 million page views on both desktop and mobile devices throughout the lead-up to the election. In addition, CBC’s Vote Compass tool gave nearly a quarter million Ontarians an opportunity to match their own priorities with that of the parties.
In Toronto, where the Liberals gained new territory, Torontonians also made CBC their #1 choice. CBC Toronto’s evening news coverage with Dwight Drummond and Anne-Marie Mediwake was #1 at 6 p.m. ET and CBC’s Ontario Votes coverage was top choice for Torontonians from 9 p.m. - 10 p.m. on June 12.
