A WINNING WEEKEND FOR CBC/RADIO-CANADA AS OVERALL REACH CONTINUES TO INCREASE

Coverage of the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games on CBC/Radio-Canada continues to attract more Canadians each day, with an increase of over 1.3 million viewers from Day 2 (Feb. 9) to 3.
 
Day 3 (Feb. 10)
• On February 10, 1.3 million more Canadians tuned in to watch CBC/Radio-Canada’s Olympic coverage on either an English or a French platform, bringing the total number of Canadians who have watched the Games to 29.3 million (85% of the total population).
 
DIGITAL:
• Going into the first weekday of competition, digital viewing of Olympic content continued to grow at an even faster rate. As Canadians returned to work, almost 600,000 new viewers tuned into watch Olympic content online on February 10. This brought the total number of Canadians who have watched Olympic content online to 3.2 million (about 1 in 10 Canadians). Both the CBC Olympics website and the CBC Olympic Games app reported record days in terms of traffic. Video viewing on the CBC Olympics website almost doubled to over half a million hours from February 9.
 
On February 8 and 9, three quarters of Canadians tuned in to cheer on their athletes as Team Canada brought home four medals in a strong start to the Olympic Winter Games.
