CBC’s newest series joins the Sunday night lineup, airing weekly at 8 p.m. (8:30 NT)
Canadians holding onto unique hidden treasures will have their moment in the spotlight when FOUR ROOMS debuts Sunday, January 5 at 8 p.m. (8:30 NT) on CBC Television. From the producers of CBC’s DRAGONS’ DEN, this compelling new series provides a fresh take on the exciting world of art, memorabilia and antique collecting.
Here’s how FOUR ROOMS works: members of the public come from across Canada with prized possessions that they think could be worth a fortune. Waiting in four rooms are Canada’s top buyers, each ready to spend BIG money on whatever comes through their doors. But there’s a catch: sellers can only visit one buyer at a time, and if they turn down an offer, it’s off the table for good, there’s no going back. FOUR ROOMS. Four buyers. Four chances to make the deal of a lifetime.
The first two episodes air Sunday, January 5 and Sunday, January 12, 2014, and feature an eclectic mix of items, ranging from a mummified cat and rare Canadian flag, to a letter from reclusive Catcher in the Rye author J.D. Salinger.
FOUR ROOMS features four of Canada’s most savvy and respected buyers. Vancouver’s Scott Landon is a former RCMP officer who turned his passion for collecting into a full-time gig. He’s now the proud owner of Scott Landon Antiques and one of the country’s leading experts in all things Canadian. Toronto-based Jessica Lindsay Phillips is a private collector and curator who doesn’t shy away from dark and mysterious objects. Her collection includes shrunken heads, mummies, medieval torture devices and tribal weaponry. Jessica is the director of the Billy Jamieson-Niagara Falls Museum Collection and works closely with organizations like the Royal Ontario Museum, TIFF and the Mütter Museum. Derreck Martin is the owner of Toronto’s 507 ANTIQUES, a 22-year-old family business that prides itself on being the largest antiques dealer in Canada. Derreck specializes in French, Italian and American antiques and furniture and has a diverse client list that includes private collectors, interior designers, hotels and film production companies. Montreal’s Eddy Rogo is an international auctioneer with over 25 years’ experience in buying and selling the world’s finest antiques. As co-owner of Empire Auctions, he buys and sells anything, from furniture and fine art to sculptures and rare jewels.
FOUR ROOMS is filmed at the CBC Broadcasting Centre in Toronto and airs Sundays at 8 p.m. (8:30 NT) on CBC Television. Tracie Tighe is executive producer and Kirsty Mitchell is senior producer. CBC News Network’s Reshmi Nair hosts.
