CBC HOSTS EXCLUSIVE COVERAGE OF THE THIRD AND FINAL ROUNDS OF THE 2013 CN CANADIAN WOMEN'S OPEN, AUGUST 24 AND 25

CBC heads to the Royal Mayfair Golf Club in Edmonton for exclusive coverage of the third and final rounds of the 2013 CN CANADIAN WOMEN’S OPEN as the world’s top female golfers compete for the $2 million (US) purse. Live coverage airs Saturday, August 24 and Sunday, August 25 beginning at 2 p.m. ET (11 a.m. PT) both days on CBC-TV and online at CBCSports.ca.
 
Ron MacLean will host CBC’s coverage of the 2013 CN CANADIAN WOMEN’S OPEN and will provide play-by-play alongside analyst and World Golf Hall of Famer Judy Rankin (@Jrprotalker). CBC’s Elliotte Friedman (@FriedgeHNIC), Bruce Rainnie and former LPGA Tour member Gail Graham (@lpgatoa) will provide reports and interviews from the course.
 
This year’s international star-studded field features 22 of the current top-25 ranked female golfers in the world, including Inbee Park of South Korea (#1), American Stacy Lewis (#2), Suzann Pettersen of Norway (#3) as well as Na Yeon Choi (#4) and So Yeon Ryu (#5), both from South Korea. Six past CN CANADIAN WOMEN’S OPEN champions will compete for a second career title, including Pettersen, Cristie Kerr, Brittany Lincicome, Michelle Wie, Katherine Hull and last year’s winner, Lydia Ko. Other notable entrants include Paula Creamer, Karrie Webb, Ai Miyazato, Jiyai Shin, Angela Stanford and Natalie Gulbis.
 
There will be a large Canadian contingent in the hunt for the championship featuring LPGA Tour players Lorie Kane of Charlottetown, PE, Maude-Aimee LeBlanc of Sherbrooke, QC, Sara-Maude Juneau of Fossambault, QC, Rebecca Lee-Bentham of Toronto, Alena Sharp of Hamilton, ON and Stephanie Sherlock of Barrie, ON. Canadian players who have earned exemptions include Samantha Richdale of Kelowna, BC, Jennifer Kirby of Paris, ON, Augusta James of Bath, ON, Brooke Henderson of Smiths Falls, ON, and Jessica Shepley of Oakville, ON.
 
The Royal Mayfair last hosted the CN CANADIAN WOMEN’S OPEN in 2007 when Lorena Ochoa won the event by three strokes, finishing at 16-under-par.
 
The first and second rounds of the 2013 CN CANADIAN WOMEN’S OPEN will air on TSN beginning Thursday, Aug. 22.
