Join CBC’s Hockey Night in Canada personalities Ron MacLean, Dick Irvin, Elliotte Friedman and Andi Petrillo as well as author Michael McKinley at the CBC, Thursday, November 1st at 12 p.m., for the launch of McKinley’s new book, Hockey Night in Canada: 60 Seasons
 
CBC and Penguin Books invite you to join members of CBC’S HOCKEY NIGHT IN CANADA broadcast team and author Michael McKinley for the launch of the new book, HOCKEY NIGHT IN CANADA: 60 SEASONS. The event, hosted by CBC’s Daryn Jones, gives guests the chance to hear from Hockey Night in Canada broadcast team members Ron MacLean, Dick Irvin, Elliotte Friedman and Andi Petrillo as they discuss their favourite stories and experiences. McKinley will share his favourite parts of the book as well as his experiences while condensing the last 60 years of Hockey Night in Canada into the pages of this new book. Following their remarks on stage, guests in attendance will have the opportunity to purchase copies of the book and have it signed by the author and Hockey Night in Canada team.
 
 
The special event will be held on Thursday, November 1 from 12:00 PM - 2 PM at the CBC’s Barbara Frum Atrium (250 Front St. W. in Toronto).
12:00 PM - 12:30 PM: CBC’s Hockey Night in Canada’s Ron MacLean, Dick Irvin, Elliotte Friedman and Andi Petrillo join author Michael McKinley on-stage to share their thoughts and experiences with host Daryn Jones.
12:30 PM - 2 PM: Book signing with MacLean, Irvin, Friedman, Petrillo and McKinley (HOCKEY NIGHT IN CANADA: 60 SEASONS will be available for purchase on-site at the CBC Shop at a special discounted price).
 
HOCKEY NIGHT IN CANADA: 60 SEASONS takes a look at the history of Hockey Night in Canada with interviews and stories from many of the people who have been involved with the program and those who are still part of the show today. It is a retrospective look at the iconic Canadian program that brings a nation together every Saturday night touching on personalities, behind-the-scene stories, and more. HOCKEY NIGHT IN CANADA: 60 SEASONS not only highlights significant moments in hockey, but also significant technological advancements and broadcasting innovations that have been a part of the growth of CBC’s Hockey Night in Canada over the past six decades.

Michael McKinley is a journalist, author, documentary filmmaker, and screenwriter. He has written several books on hockey, including Hockey: A People’s History and Ice Time, the companions to the ten-part CBC TV series Hockey: A People’s History, for which he was also an on-camera contributor.

CEBL and CBC Sports release 2026 Season Broadcast and Streaming Schedule

Beginning May 9, CBC Sports will live stream every game of the 2026 CEBL season on the free CBC Gem streaming service, cbcsports.ca and CBC Sports YouTube channel.
