6.9 million Canadians watched CBC's coverage of the men's 100m final on Sunday, Aug. 14
Just past the halfway point of the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, approximately 30.4 million Canadians (86.3 per cent of the population) have watched CBC/Radio-Canada's coverage across all networks and platforms during the first 10 days. The most-watched day of the Olympic Games to date was Sunday, Aug. 14, with 20.4 million Canadians tuning in across all television and digital platforms.
Nearly 7 million Canadians watched CBC's coverage of the Rio 2016 Olympic Games on Sun. Aug. 14 as Jamaica's Usain Bolt captured the gold medal and Canada's Andre De Grasse won bronze in the men's 100m. The audience for CBC's English-language broadcast and digital simulcast peaked at 6.922 million during the race at 9:27 p.m. ET, making it the most-watched moment of Rio 2016 to date - up 122 percent over the peak moment during the Rio 2016 Opening Ceremony on Fri. Aug. 5.
In addition to impressive television audiences, CBC's digital platforms have seen significant traffic from Aug. 5-14, with nearly 116 million page views and more than 19 million video views, representing 400 million minutes of live and on-demand video watched.
