Match will air live on Saturday, Nov. 12 at 2pm ET/11am PT as part of CBC Sports’ Road To The Olympic Games and will stream live at cbcsports.ca and via the CBC Sports app
Rugby Canada is pleased to announce that Canada’s match against Ireland on Nov. 12 from Dublin will be broadcast live as part of CBC Sports’ Road To The Olympic Games. Coverage of the match is scheduled to begin at 2pm ET/11am PT on CBC and will also stream live at cbcsports.ca and via the CBC Sports app for iOS and Android devices.
The match is the first game of Canada’s November tour to Europe and will mark the eighth time the two sides have met.
“We’re delighted to partner with CBC Sports so that our match against Ireland can be seen by our passionate fans coast-to-coast,” said Rugby Canada CEO Allen Vansen. “It was a pleasure working with CBC Sports during the Rio Olympics and we’re excited to partner with them once again.”
The game, which will be played at the Aviva Stadium, kicks off at 2:15pm ET/11:15am PT. CBC Sports’ broadcast will begin at 2pm ET/11am PT with pre-match coverage with Road To The Olympic Games hosts Scott Russell and Andi Petrillo alongside Nigel Reed and Brian Spanton. Reed will provide the play-by-play calls for the match alongside analyst Spanton. Russell and Petrillo will rejoin Reed and Spanton to host CBC Sports’ halftime coverage.

Canada last faced Ireland at the 2015 Rugby World Cup in each team’s tournament opener with the Irish claiming a 50-7 victory. Canada last visited Ireland in 2008 (a 55-0 defeat) and last welcomed them to Canada in 2013 when the two sides squared off at BMO Field in Toronto with the visitors claiming a 40-14 win.
The two sides played to a 27-27 draw in 2000 at Fletcher’s Fields in Markham, Ont.
Canadian head coach Mark Anscombe named a 28-man squad last week for Canada’s November tour. In addition to the match against Ireland, Canada will also face Romania on Nov. 19 and Samoa on Nov. 25.
