CBC Radio One has strengthened its position as a leader in Canadian podcasts with its breakout hit series SOMEONE KNOWS SOMETHING reaching 18.3 million* downloads to date.
SOMEONE KNOWS SOMETHING launched in March 2016 with season 1 and season 2 ending on February 13.
Since its premiere, the show has sparked renewed interest in the cold cases of Adrien McNaughton (season 1) and Sheryl Sheppard (season 2).
Season 2 of the hit crime podcast has garnered 8.2 million*downloads since its launch on November 21, 2016, with 1 million downloads of various episodes for the series taking place during the week that the episode "Blackmail" was released.
Season 1 saw more than 10 million downloads since its launch in March 2016.
Hosted by award-winning filmmaker and writer David Ridgen, SOMEONE KNOWS SOMETHING has aided in uncovering leads and tips that law enforcement are currently pursuing in an effort to close the two unsolved cases.
With an aptitude for investigative work, Ridgen has now explored eight cold cases involving 11 victims since 2004. Of those cases, three arrests have been made with two convictions directly related to Ridgen’s work.
In 2007, his documentary Mississippi Cold Case led to an arrest and the second-ever federal trial of the Ku Klux Klan in U.S. history.
Ridgen's superior work is recognized internationally as setting a gold standard in storytelling.
Each new season of SOMEONE KNOWS SOMETHING focuses on a standalone Canadian cold case in an effort to unearth new information that could propel the case forward, while also uncovering how the events have affected the families and communities involved. Listeners are brought deep into the mystery, hearing new evidence and first-hand accounts from those closest to the investigation. Season 2 examined the disappearance of Sheryl Sheppard, a 29-year-old Hamilton woman who went missing in January1998. Season 1 explored the disappearance of five-year-old Adrien McNaughton, who vanished on a fishing trip with his family more than 20 years earlier.
