Host and investigator David Ridgen revisits his first murder investigation, Mississippi Cold Case, in season 3 titled DEE & MOORE
With more than 32 million downloads to date, CBC’s hit original serialized crime podcast returns with season 3, SOMEONE KNOWS SOMETHING: DEE & MOORE, at cbc.ca/sks on Tuesday, November 7. This season, host and investigator David Ridgen revisits his ground-breaking documentary Mississippi Cold Case, a civil rights era case he has lived with for more than 13 years, which follows white supremacists, domestic terrorism and failure in the American justice system.
In 1964, the bodies of black teenagers Henry Dee and Charles Moore were pulled from a backwater of the Mississippi River. Following an extensive FBI investigation, it was determined that the Ku Klux Klan was responsible for the murders, but no one was convicted and the case was overshadowed by the Mississippi Burning murders that same summer. In 2004, Ridgen began his investigation, joining Thomas Moore, the brother of victim Charles Moore, as he returned to Mississippi 40 years later to reopen the case and confront the Klansmen involved.
Produced by CBC, original true-crime podcast SOMEONE KNOWS SOMETHING examines unsolved cases of missing or murdered individuals. Each season focuses on a single cold case in hopes of uncovering new information, while also exploring the effects each case has had on the families and communities involved. The acclaimed series was awarded gold for Best Podcast at the Canadian Online Publishing Awards for season 1 which followed the disappearance of Adrien McNaughton and season 2, which delved into the disappearance of Sheryl Sheppard, won bronze at the New York Festival.
With an aptitude for investigative work and specializing in hard-hitting, point-of-view storytelling, investigator and host Ridgen brings listeners raw accounts on where these cold cases stand today. Educated as a documentarian filmmaker, Ridgen’s recent works have been credited with reopening cold cases, which have led to arrests and convictions (Mississippi Cold Case, Confession to Murder and A Garden of Tears), and have also made a progressive impact on the Israel/Palestine conflict (American Radical: The Trials of Norman Finkelstein) and spurred victim reconciliation with perpetrators (Reconciliation in Mississippi).
