Lineup announced for the free outdoor concert series running July 10 – August 17, 2018
VANCOUVER, B.C., July 4, 2018 – CBC Vancouver is ready to kick-off the ninth season of its popular free, outdoor summer-long concert series, Musical Nooners, on Tuesday, July 10, 2018, with a special performance by Indigenous hip-hop duo Mob Bounce. The whole community is invited to CBC Vancouver’s outdoor stage at 700 Hamilton Street to join in on the festivities.
"We are so stoked to have Mob Bounce celebrate opening day with us,” remarks Jon Siddall, co-producer for the series. “Mob Bounce fuse Hip Hop with EDM and traditional Indigenous sounds to make some amazing music that's going to rock our nooner stage. These guys are the future of music, now. It’s going to be a fun opening day!”
The afternoon starts with a traditional welcome by Senaqwila Wyss, Skwxwú7mesh. CBC Vancouver reporter Angela Sterritt will then host Mob Bounce, a northwest coast Native hip-hop duo comprised of The Northwest Kid (Gitxsan) and EarthChild (Cree/ Metis), on the outdoor stage. Mr. Bannock, an indigenous food truck will also be on hand to feed hungry concert attendees.
“Musical Nooners have certainly become a part of Vancouver tradition, and I am very proud that CBC Vancouver is able to host such great, local talent on our outdoor stage,” says Johnny Michel, senior managing director, CBC British Columbia and Alberta. "This year’s programming celebrates the cultural diversity and medley of musical tastes in Vancouver. Musical Nooners is a testament to the importance of the public broadcaster's role in fostering community, culture and Canadian content."
CBC Vancouver’s Musical Nooners is a free concert series and runs Monday – Friday, from noon to 1 p.m., at the CBC Vancouver Broadcast Centre at 700 Hamilton Street (between Robson and Georgia) from July 10 – August 17.
