An unprecedented series of broadcast events giving undecided voters exclusive access, starting September 30
Undecided voters talk one-on-one with Justin Trudeau, Andrew Scheer, Jagmeet Singh and Elizabeth May ahead of the 2019 election, hosted by The National’s Rosemary Barton
TORONTO, September 27, 2019 — CBC today announced The National Presents: Face to Face With the Federal Party Leaders , an exclusive series of broadcast events that will give undecided voters from across Canada five uninterrupted minutes with a different federal party leader each night, to ask the questions that matter the most to them.
The National Presents: Face to Face With the Federal Party Leaders will broadcast at 10 p.m. (10:30 NT) on CBC’s The National , September 30 - October 3. Hosted by Rosemary Barton , these news specials will also be available as one hour broadcasts each night (Sep. 30-Oct. 3) at 8 p.m. ET on CBC News Network and on the free CBC Gem streaming service.
Monday September 30: Justin Trudeau, Liberal Party of Canada
Tuesday October 1: Andrew Scheer, Conservative Party of Canada
Wednesday October 2: Elizabeth May Green Party of Canada
Thursday October 3: Jagmeet Singh, New Democratic Party
CBC will bring 20 undecided voters from across Canada to Toronto to speak one-on-one with the federal party leaders. In four separate events, five different voters will each have five uninterrupted minutes to ask their own questions of the candidates for Prime Minister of Canada. The events will be recorded in front of a live audience.
Voters chosen to question the leaders have been carefully selected from across the country and represent the diversity of the Canadian electorate, regionally, racially and ethnically. They have different socio-economic lifestyles, they are different ages, and they have different priorities.
“Voters are at the centre of all decisions for CBC News this election. We have worked hard to find innovative ways to allow voters to have input, get the information they need, wherever they consume content, and personalize the information they need so they can make an informed vote,” said Jennifer McGuire, General Manager and Editor in Chief, CBC News. “Giving Canadians direct, and unfiltered access to party leaders and the future Prime Minister is an important part of this promise.”
