COMEDIAN CHRIS WILSON JOINS 2023 CANADIAN SCREEN AWARD-WINNING BEST ENSEMBLE CAST OF THIS HOUR HAS 22 MINUTES FOR SEASON 31 ON CBC

The new season streams Tuesdays at 8 PM/8:30 NT on CBC Gem and CBC TV starting September 19

THIS HOUR HAS 22 MINUTES (24x30) welcomes CHRIS WILSON to the desk as a full-time cast member following three seasons as a featured performer and writer. Wilson joins 2023 Canadian Screen Award-winning cast featuring TRENT McCLELLAN, ABA AMUQUANDOH, STACEY McGUNNIGLE, and 22 Minutes veteran MARK CRITCH.

22 MINUTES, the longest-running TV comedy series in Canadian history, returns Tuesday, September 19 at 8pm/8:30NT on CBC Gem and CBC TV for its 31st record-breaking season, continuing to push the boundaries of provocative satire; targeting politics, culture and world events with biting parodies and an unrelenting skewering of the weekly news.

A three time Canadian Comedy Award-winner, Wilson has been a fan favorite since his debut on the show as a writer and featured performer in 2020. He has continued to gain traction with audiences with his impressions of Justin Trudeau and Pierre Poilievre, and dozens of characters in sketches that send everyday life up to absurd heights.

Wilson is an alumnus of the acclaimed Second City Mainstage in Toronto, and one half of sketch comedy duo Peter N’ Chris, who have performed at Just for Laughs, JFL42 and San Francisco Sketchfest, and have created original videos for CollegeHumor. Chris was also a cast member of long-running Canadian sketch show Royal Canadian Air Farce, and wrote for several seasons of The Irrelevant Show (CBC Radio 1). He can also be seen on Run the Burbs, Hudson and Rex, Cavendish, Murdoch Mysteries, The Next Step, Gary and His Demons, and Cupcake and Dino.

22 MINUTES is filmed in front of a live audience in its studio and production facilities at the Light House Arts Centre in Halifax, where the show employs an integral and experienced crew across all production disciplines to bring the show to life every week.

This Hour Has 22 Minutes is produced by IoM Media: Executive Producers Mike Allison and Michael Donovan; Producers Leslee Gill, Carl Gosine, Tracey Jardine, and Dana Landry. For CBC, Sally Catto is General Manager, Entertainment, Factual & Sports; Trish Williams is Executive Director, Scripted Content; Zach Feldberg is Director of Current Production, Comedy; and Dennis Chan is Manager, Current Production.
