This Hour Has 22 Minutes, Canada’s longest-running TV comedy series, takes on the federal election in a satirical one-hour special this week that gives audiences a hilarious close-up look at the candidates and their quirks. Filmed before a live studio audience in Halifax with segments from across the country, VOTE CANADIAN: A 22 MINUTES ELECTION SPECIAL features appearances by former Prime Minister Jean Chrétien, NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh, Bloc Québécois candidate Rose Lessard, Green Party Co-Leaders Elizabeth May and Jonathan Pedneault, a classic 22 Minutes drop-in at the Federal Leaders’ Debate — and Mark Critch has coffee with Liberal Leader Mark Carney.
The special features on-the-road segments with 22 Minutes correspondents Dan Dillabough and Peter Anthony, and guest star Mark McKinney (The Kids in the Hall, Superstore) reprising his viral role as Mark Carney, with cast members Aba Amuquandoh, Stacey McGunnigle, Trent McClellan, Chris Wilson and 22 Minutes veteran Mark Critch. The special also includes Glass Tiger’s Alan Frew performing “Canada’s Song,” a tribute to the country’s resilience, freedom and beauty.
VOTE CANADIAN: A 22 MINUTES ELECTION SPECIAL will be available on CBC Gem on Thursday, April 24 beginning 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT, and will broadcast on CBC immediately following the Toronto/Ottawa NHL playoff game on Saturday, April 26 (approximately 9:30 p.m. ET/6:30 p.m. PT).
