CBC today announced that award-winning media professional and content leader Chris Harris has been hired as executive producer, digital, scripted. Harris previously worked with CBC from 1999-2006 and rejoins the broadcaster today. In his new role, Harris will report to Paul McGrath, director, Digital Content, CBC.
Harris returns to CBC from his most recent position as vice president, Strategy & Business Development with Secret Location, a position he held since 2013. He brings more than 15 years of experience as a digital production executive, business leader, media strategist, interactive producer, and journalist to his new role with CBC.

Harris previously spent more than seven years with CBC as an award-winning interactive producer and journalist, working in Sports, News, Kids, and Television. In 2006 he joined Alliance Atlantis/Canwest where he led the digital content teams at Shaw Media and Canwest as both director and head of Online Content, where he helped lead the creation of globally-recognized award-winning work, which resulted in significant growth in unique visitors, visits, engagement, and revenue. Before joining Secret Location, Harris worked with Shaw Media as their first ever head of social media, responsible for enterprise social strategy across all broadcast brands including Global and 19 specialty TV channels.
Recognized as an industry leader, Harris has spoken and appeared on juries at several festivals and conferences, including SXSW, the Banff World Media Festival, Promax-BDA, nextMEDIA, and Merging Media. In addition, his work has been honoured with a number of prestigious awards including an Emmy and a Canadian Screen Award.
