CBC presents a national outreach initiative in partnership with CIVIX for young Canadians to express their issues, concerns and hopes about the 2015 federal election at events in five cities across Canada

CBC and CIVIX will engage with high school students in five Canadian cities this week, asking them to share their issues, concerns and hopes about the 2015 federal election. These events, taking place days before the federal election, will feature CBC personalities joining students in Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Winnipeg and Toronto to engage in a conversation with Canada’s future voters, listening to what matters to them.
These closed events are scheduled to take place on the mornings of October 14 and 15 at high schools or CBC headquarters in the selected cities. Personalities from local CBC News newsrooms will join students as they participate in activities such as roundtable discussions, panels, and town hall-style Q&As that will touch on various themes including leadership, election issues, and the decisions they will make as voters in future elections.
This initiative is just one of the many ways that CBC News is engaging Canadians in conversations about politics and democracy. The purpose of these student-focused events is to empower young Canadians, helping them to realize that their issues matter and that their national public broadcaster is there to bring their concerns and ideas to the country. A rundown of the events is as follows:
October 14
•Edmonton event at City Hall Council Chamber (1 Sir Winston Churchill Sq.) with CBC News host Adrienne Pan.
October 15
•Vancouver event at CBC Vancouver headquarters (700 Hamilton St.) with CBC Radio host Rick Cluff, CBC journalists Lisa Johnson, Kirk Williams, and Steve Lus, CBC Radio producers Elain Chau, Jason D’Souza, and Anne Penman.
• Calgary event at Robert Thirsk High School (8777 Nose Hill Dr. NW) with CBC News host Rob Brown, CBC Radio host David Gray, CBC journalist Kyle Bakx, and CBC Calgary digital senior producer Christine Boyd.
•Winnipeg event at CBC Manitoba headquarters (541 Portage Ave.) with CBC Radio host Marcy Markusa and CBC journalist Sean Kavanagh.
•Toronto event at East York Collegiate Institute (650 Cosburn Ave.) with CBC Radio hosts Matt Galloway and Marcia Young, CBC News hosts Marivel Taruc and Mike Wise, CBC News Network host Reshmi Nair, and CBC journalists Shannon Martin and Makda Ghebreslassie.
